Neighborhood Engagement Initiative
Early
Connections, a project of the Collaborative for Children,
is working in partnership with key neighborhood leaders, elected
officials, the medical community, the faith-based community,
and educational leaders to deliver important information on
child development and early care and education to the parents
of young children in the East
End neighborhood of Houston.
Vision: Churches, schools, and community organizations in the East End of Houston will engage community residents on issues concerning child development and early care and education.
Objectives:
- To connect with churches, schools, businesses, and community organizations that have an interest in child development and early care and education.
- To develop Parent Support Networks within schools, churches, and community organizations.
- To create an East End Taskforce made up of leaders from community organizations and Parent Support Networks to develop strategies and share experiences related to the initiative.
- To facilitate community-based outreach efforts to neighborhood residents through Parent Support Networks and the Taskforce.
